Arguably SDG's best web developer (she sat on the keyboard during the website refresh), and the real brains of the operation. Most often found lounging in a sunbeam on the windowsill.

FAQ

Why are you called Smartly Dressed Games?

Not for being smartly dressed, if my fashion sense is anything to go by! ;)
I picked the studio name when I was 12 and I guess it stuck!

How can I share ideas and feedback?

We love receiving feedback, thank you! Whether it's through emails, comments, or online posts, we do our best to read and consider as many as possible, even if we aren't able to respond to all of them. Steam Discussions, Reddit, Discord, or any of our official channels are all great places to share ideas.

Can you remove my VAC or BattlEye ban?

We have zero-tolerance for cheating. If you believe your ban was issued incorrectly, please refer to our support article on multiplayer bans. It covers the different types of bans and the support options available.

Can you fix this bug I found?

Sorry for the trouble and thanks for helping fix it! Please follow the steps on our Help Center to submit a report. Detailed reports (especially steps to reproduce the bug) help us resolve problems faster.

Help! My game crashed!

Sorry for the trouble! If your game is crashing or failing to start, please follow the steps on our Help Center to submit a report. Detailed reports help us resolve problems faster.

Do you ever collaborate with community members?

Definitely! We've collaborated with hundreds of members of our extensive modding community, from adding requested features for mods, to promoting community-made creations in-game, to working together on major content updates.

Do you have any positions or internships available?

Thank you for your interest! Unfortunately not at this time, sorry. Best wishes and good luck to you in your search!

How do you recommend I start learning game development?

The advice I usually suggest (and that many gamedevs suggest) is to start small by re-creating some classic games from start to finish. For example Pong, Snake, Asteroids, etc. This helps you learn the ropes of a game engine by working through complete projects. I still do this myself when trying out a new engine or framework.

If you're new to game engines, then I'd recommend Godot, GameMaker, Unity, or Unreal. Godot, GameMaker, and Unity all have good 2D support (which is ideal for first projects). All have large communities with plenty of tutorials available. If you're undecided, try Godot!

Alternatively, modding is a great way to experiment and discover whether you enjoy gamedev, and many of the skills are transferable when creating a full game. I'm proud to have seen several prolific Unturned modders go on to develop their own successful games!
